Rachel Gascho, RSW, MSW
Rachel is a registered social worker with a deep enthusiasm for the neurodivergent mind. Diagnosed with ADHD at age nine, the experience was eye-opening and helped her make sense of the world around her. With both a parent and a sibling who also have ADHD, Rachel is very familiar with how it can shape the entire family dynamic. She has personally experienced many of the common challenges associated with ADHD; in school, friendships, chores, and maintaining relationships; and she’s passionate about helping others navigate these realities with confidence. Her goal is to help clients harness the strengths of their neurodivergent minds so they can avoid, or at least be better prepared for, the hurdles that come with living as a neurodivergent person in a neurotypical world.
Rachel earned both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Social Work at the University of North Carolina in Charlotte. There, she developed a strong passion for a person-centred approach to therapy, focusing on what each individual truly needs rather than following a rigid therapeutic model. She believes every client has their own unique mix of challenges, abilities, and needs.
Rachel also believes mental health is a vital part of overall wellbeing and is too often overshadowed by physical health, even though it is just as important. She has worked with adults with severe intellectual disabilities in group home settings, as well as providing therapy in a primary care office within a community heavily impacted by poverty. Rachel works with clients to create individualized, manageable goals and coping strategies that consider the full context of their lives, while also helping them process the trauma that is so commonly experienced by ADHDers and Autistic individuals.
Outside of work, Rachel enjoys reading, cooking, baking (and eating!), spending time with family and friends, music, and being outdoors. She loves learning and takes every opportunity she can to expand her understanding of an ever-changing world.
Rachel is NOT currently taking on new clients.
