Sue Carlson, MSW, RSW
Therapy & Coaching
Sue Carlson is a registered social worker with a background in education, mental health, and professional editing. As a former math teacher and parent of two neurodiverse daughters, one with ADHD and one on the autism spectrum, she has a great deal of experience supporting folks with learning differences. Along her journey as a parent, as she learned how best to support her daughters, Sue came to recognize her own neurodiversity as a person on the spectrum.
As well as Neurodivergence, Sue has experience supporting clients with anxiety, OCD, social phobia, depression, grief and loss, LGBTQ+ issues, self-harm, and suicidality. Her experiences as a parent navigating the school system, as a teacher supporting neurodiverse students, and as a client of counselling services give her a solid understanding of systemic barriers and what is and is not helpful. Sue’s warm and empathetic approach creates a safe space in which clients can identify their unique superpowers and learn |
how to live their best, most authentic life. Her clients express appreciation for her gentle curiosity and her ability to help them make sense of their challenges and find a way forward that is consistent with their values and their true selves.
Away from work, Sue enjoys cooking (she is currently experimenting to find delicious gluten-free vegan dishes), reading (a wide variety of fiction and non-fiction), exploring her spirituality, and camping in Ontario parks with her lovely daughters.
