Kat Herbinson, MA (Cand.), AACC
Therapist & Coach

Picture
Kat Herbinson is a therapist specializing in ADHD & Asperger's Syndrome/ASD. Diagnosed with ADHD in adulthood, Kat has learned to embrace her own neurodiversity by replacing self-judgement with self-compassion and apathy for curiosity. She loves working with teens, adults, and seniors to help them reclaim their brains and learn to trust themselves again. Kat also has a lot of training in eating disorders, educational assistance, trauma support, sexuality/LGBTQ issues, and suicide prevention.

Kat is passionate about self-growth and has done a lot of her own therapy, coaching, and couples counselling so she definitely knows what it's like to be on the other side of the conversation. Clients describe Kat as kind, approachable and extremely collaborative, as well as the first person to celebrate personal triumphs with great enthusiasm. Her non-judgmental attitude and great problem solving skills lead clients to quickly feel safe and supported around any issue.

Kat is completing her Master's of Arts in Counselling Psychology, and has an honours degree in gender studies and international development, a 600 hours human sexuality coaching certification, as well as her AACC designation (ADHD & Asperger's/ASD Coaching Certification). She also has many years of experience in mental health, including working for the Alzheimer's Society and running the Guelph Distress Line for several years. While working at The Guelph Distress Line, she developed their texting program and has been a huge help in implementing texting support at The ADHD & Asperger's Centre. In her spare time, Kat is passionate about writing and editing, rock climbing, and learning everything she can about psychology, neurodiversity, and human sexuality.

Kat is available to coach clients in person, on the phone, and via text messaging. She works with adults who are 18 years and older.
