David Kirshner, M.Ed. (Counselling), RP
Psychotherapy & Coaching
David is an experienced psychotherapist who specializes in ADHD and Asperger's Syndrome/ASD. Living with ADHD himself, David is keenly aware of the struggles people with ADHD face and the triumphs they can achieve. David has experience working with social and general anxiety, trauma, depression, suicidal feelings, substance abuse, video game addiction, stress, and relationship concerns, both family-oriented as well as romantic. He is especially passionate about helping students and young adults reach their full potential and previously worked at York University providing psychotherapy to undergrads.
David has a master's of education degree in Counselling Psychology from the University of Toronto, where he received academic training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Emotion-focused Therapy (EFT), and Motivational Interviewing. David loves that his neurodivergence pushes him to think outside the box by mixing and matching the right therapeutic approach for the unique needs of each of his clients. In therapy, David works collaboratively with clients to establish reasonable goals, resolve conflicts, empower themselves, and reframe their neurodivergence as something they can master. |
Clients find David to be empathetic and understanding. He takes an individualized approach to each client that focuses on their specific needs and wants.
In his spare time, David is an avid hiker (spent some time scaling the Patagonia mountains), loves philosophical discussions, plays guitar, and kicks butt at board games.
David is available for in-person, phone, and text messaging support.
